A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications by the Institute of Chemical Sciences, University of Peshawar, Pakistan, 1955-2022
Abstract
The main objective of this research is to perform a bibliometric analysis on the research productivity of the academicians associated with the Institute of Chemical Sciences at the University of Peshawar, Pakistan. The study aims to evaluate the research contributions of the teaching faculty, particularly those linked with the University of Peshawar (UoP) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. To determine and document the research output of academicians affiliated with the Institute of Chemical Sciences from 1955 to 2022, utilizing the Scopus database. The research was carried out at the University of Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, involving the analysis of data extracted from the SCOPUS database. The study utilized bibliometric analytical techniques spanning the years 1955 to 2022. Data retrieval from the SCOPUS Database relied on author affiliation and publication date. The study specifically focused on research articles, excluding review articles, books, and book chapters from the analysis. Following the empirical analysis, the findings indicate a total of 1670 research articles, accumulating 24,327 citations across diverse journals. Notably, China emerged as the frontrunner in international collaborations, contributing 240 papers that garnered 4,284 citations. Germany closely followed with 48 papers and 953 citations, while Brazil contributed 42 papers with 553 citations. The primary goal of this study was to pinpoint existing gaps and suggest optimal strategies for addressing them. By identifying these gaps and proposing a way forward, the research aims to contribute meaningful insights. Additionally, the current study is poised to enhance the existing literature by introducing valuable analytical knowledge to the field.
